Our Board

Our Board takes time from their professional lives to help make our mission a reality because they are passionate about contributing to positive change in Charlottesville. Creciendo Juntos acknowledges Charlottesville’s problematic history that is rooted in racial inequity. Progress has been made, but there is much more work to be done. Creciendo Juntos strives to be a key participator in that work.

Elizabeth Jazmin Valtierra

Board Member

Elizabeth brings experience to the team from the perspective of a community organizer for immigrant’s rights, LGBTQ+ equality, women’s rights, and educational equity. She has been living in Charlottesville since 2012, graduated from Charlottesville High School in 2017, and has been living in town since then. Her engagement with the community began in high school as she understood the weight of her inherent political identity as a queer Mexican-American woman and realized the need for proper representation within the Latino community in all spaces of power. Since then, she has been involved with the Charlottesville City Youth Council, volunteered with Sin Barreras, and worked for Creciendo Juntos with the mission to implement better programming and academic opportunities for Latino youths. Now, Elizabeth currently works full time as a Legal Assistant Manager at Cruz Law PLLC. She spends her free time celebrating radical joy with her community and family. You can find her in social dancing events, community events for liberation, or with her family and two cats.
