Bring hope to their journey of a thousand miles and become a child advocate for an unaccompanied immigrant child.
To become a Child Advocate, you must: be at least 21 years old; speak fluent Spanish or French; submit to a background check and health screening; participate in both days of training, and be approved by the Young Center.
How We Serve: The Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights trains volunteers to serve as Child Advocates for unaccompanied immigrant children in immigration deportation proceedings.
The Role of the Child Advocate: Volunteers acting as a Child Advocate meet with the child on a weekly basis, learn the child’s story, and advocate for the child’s best interests
When: Saturday & Sunday, October 14th & 15th, 2017
Time: 1 AM - 5 PM (on both days)
