United Way Tax Preparation Services
During tax season (January – April) Martha Trujillo offers free assistance to area Spanish speakers filing state and federal income taxes. Through this service Virginia residents who do not have a Social Security Number can apply for an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) in order to file their taxes, as well as receive help claiming the Earned Income Credit or other applicable credits. Washington & Lee Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic
The Lexington Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic, operating out of the Washington and Lee University School of Law, provides free legal representation to low-income taxpayers who have post-filing controversies with the Internal Revenue Service. All services are free. The Clinic has a partner organization that provides translators and Spanish materials and can travel to Charlottesville to meet with clients. Contact (540) 460-6606.
