Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault
Area domestic and sexual assault agencies have bilingual staff that work closely with law enforcement and social services to provide Clients the support they need. They also offer the Latino community and their service providers outreach and educational opportunities.
Sexual Assault Resource Agency (SARA)
Serves women, children and men who have experienced sexual assault and their families and friends with a variety of services including counseling, advocacy and accompaniment, outreach, and self defense. Shelter for Help in Emergencies (SHE)
Provides victims of domestic violence with counseling, shelter, and other support services. It operates a 24 hour hotline at (434) 293-8509. Latino clients should be referred to Adriana Haynes, the Shelter’s bilingual, bicultural Advocate for the Spanish Speaking Community at (434) 963-4676 or ahaynes@shelterforhelpinemergency.org.
